Mumbai: “Pushpa 2: The Rule,” starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, has shattered multiple box office records, becoming the fastest film to collect Rs. 500 crore worldwide in just three days.
The film, directed by Sukumar, made a stunning debut despite being released on a non-holiday weekday. On December 4, its premiere shows in India earned Rs. 10.65 crore net from Indian audiences, signaling a strong start. The official release on December 5 saw the film gross an impressive Rs. 164.5 crore net, making it the biggest-ever opening for an Indian film.
Despite a 42.89% drop in collections on the following Friday (Day 2), where the film earned Rs. 93.8 crore, Pushpa 2 bounced back over the weekend. On Saturday, the film surged back to collect Rs. 115.58 crore, pushing the total earnings to Rs. 379.28 crore by the end of the day.
The film has been especially successful in its Hindi version, which grossed Rs. 200.7 crore within the first three days. Its Day 1 performance alone saw Rs. 70.3 crore in earnings, followed by Rs. 56.9 crore on Day 2, and a solid Rs. 73.5 crore on Day 3.
Pushpa 2: The Rule is the sequel to the 2021 hit Pushpa: The Rise. Along with Allu Arjun, the film stars Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in key roles. Allu Arjun, known for his portrayal of the iconic character Pushpa, reportedly charged a remuneration of Rs. 300 crore for his role, marking the highest fee ever paid to an Indian actor.
With its exceptional box-office performance, Pushpa 2 has proven its mass appeal and reinforced the power of South Indian cinema in the global market.
