Centre Scraps No-Detention Policy for Classes 5 and 8 to Improve Learning Outcomes

New Delhi: The central government has officially ended the no-detention policy for classes five and eight, aiming to enhance learning outcomes. Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar announced that students who fail the annual exams in these classes will be given an opportunity to retake the test within two months. If they fail again after the retest, they will not be promoted to the next grade.

However, Kumar clarified that these students will not be expelled from school until they complete their elementary education. This policy change is intended to address concerns over academic performance and improve the overall learning experience for students.
