Ranchi: The Ranchi Press Club, in collaboration with RBS Vedic Trust, has announced the launch of the Jharkhand Journalism Awards 2024, inviting applications from journalists across the state.
The awards will honor three journalists in three categories: Lifetime Achievement Award, Best Reporter Award, and Best Photography Award. Each award will include a cash prize, shawl, and memento. The selection committee for the awards includes senior journalists Baijnath Mishra, Sonali Das, Press Club President Surendra Lal Soren, Secretary Amarkant, former IAS officer Ranendra, Ranchi University VC Prof. Ajit Kumar Sinha, and Trustee Nityanand Shukla.
The committee met on Sunday to discuss the selection process. Applications for the awards will be accepted until January 15, 2025. Journalists can submit nominations in all three categories, and separate applications must be submitted for each category. Application forms can be downloaded from the Ranchi Press Club website or collected from the Press Club office.
Senior journalist Baijnath Mishra highlighted the significance of the awards, stating, “Honoring journalists is akin to honoring society.” He also praised the initiative, noting that it is the first time since the formation of Jharkhand that such awards are being given under the aegis of the Ranchi Press Club and RBS Vedic Trust.
