Ranchi: In response to the ongoing cold wave and plunging temperatures, the Jharkhand government has ordered the closure of all schools across the state. The decision was made to ensure the safety and well-being of students amid the severe cold conditions.
The government’s directive, which applies to both government and private schools, mandates the closure of schools for classes 1 to 8 until January 13. However, classes for students in grades 9 through 12 will continue as scheduled, with no disruption to their academic routine.
While students in lower grades will stay home, teachers are not being given a break.
Primary and higher primary school teachers are required to report to school as usual. During this period, they will focus on administrative tasks, including updating the U-DISE (Unified District Information System for Education) data, managing Aapar ID records, and conducting household surveys.
The decision comes as temperatures across Jharkhand continue to dip, with weather experts predicting that the cold wave will persist for several more days.
The government has prioritized student safety in light of the challenging weather conditions, while also ensuring that essential administrative tasks continue uninterrupted.
