Ranchi: In line with his election promises, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will transfer Rs 5,000 each to the accounts of over 56 lakh beneficiaries under the Maiyaan Samman Yojana on January 6, 2024.
Supriyo Bhattacharya, the National General Secretary and Chief Spokesperson of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), emphasized that social security remains a top priority for the Hemant Soren-led government.
He said, “Empowering women economically is a key objective for the INDIA Alliance government in Jharkhand. Our government is dedicated to promoting women’s empowerment, and we are committed to fulfilling every promise made to the people.”
The Maiyaan Samman Yojana has been credited as one of the major contributors to the INDIA bloc’s significant electoral victory in Jharkhand. Bhattacharya also announced that the instalments for both December and January will be distributed together. “We had promised to increase the amount provided under the scheme from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500 starting December 2024. We are now fulfilling that promise, and those who missed the December instalment will receive Rs 5,000,” he added.
The disbursement of the honorarium will take place at a grand ceremony in Namkum, which was originally scheduled for December 28, 2024, but had to be postponed due to the national mourning period following the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The event is now set for January 6, and all arrangements have reportedly been finalized.
Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri visited the event venue on Saturday to inspect the preparations. A meeting was also held with police and administrative officials at the Collectorate Auditorium to ensure smooth execution of the program.
