ISM Hosts National Conference on Atomic and Molecular Physics with Over 200 Delegates

Dhanbad: The 24th National Conference on Atomic and Molecular Physics (NCAMP 2025) kicked off today at IIT-ISM Dhanbad with over 200 delegates from over 100 institutes globally.

The four-day event focuses on atomic, molecular, and optical physics, providing a platform for researchers and scientists to share their work and explore the latest advancements. The conference is being organised by the Indian Society of Atomic and Molecular Physics (ISAMP) and IIT-ISM.

This year’s conference marks the 50th anniversary of ISAMP, founded in 1976. A special session celebrated this milestone and elected a new society committee.

The event was inaugurated by Professor Sukumar Mishra, Director of IIT-ISM. Speaking on the occasion he highlighted the importance of combining science, technology, and policy for meaningful outcomes.

Bhas Bhapat from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune also discussed the growth of atomic physics, emphasizing its expansion into quantum technologies.

The program includes 20 invited talks, 6-8 presentations from young scientists, and numerous oral and poster presentations. Today’s session concluded with a vote of thanks from Professor P.M. Sarun, acknowledging all contributors to the event’s success.

NCAMP 2025 is set to foster important discussions in atomic and molecular physics research.
