Bokaro: Vedanta ESL, a leading steel manufacturer, has reinforced its commitment to environmental sustainability through a large-scale sapling distribution drive in nearby villages. In collaboration with the Environment Department, the company distributed over 4,000 fruit-bearing tree saplings to residents in CSR operational villages.
The saplings, including Mango, Banana, Guava, Amla, and Jackfruit, were chosen for their suitability to the local climate, high nutritional value, and potential to boost economic opportunities. The initiative aims to improve air quality, promote afforestation, and enhance biodiversity, while also providing villagers with a sustainable source of nutrition and income.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from local residents, community leaders, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), and Vedanta employees. Kunal Daripa, Head of CSR at Vedanta ESL, emphasized the company’s commitment to environmental conservation and community welfare, stating, “This sapling distribution drive is a meaningful step toward creating a greener future for generations to come.”
Local leaders, including Jitun Ansari and Shital Singh, expressed their gratitude for the initiative, highlighting its potential to improve both the environment and the livelihoods of villagers through better nutrition and new economic opportunities from fruit sales.
This initiative is part of Vedanta ESL’s broader CSR strategy, which focuses on environmental sustainability, community development, and social welfare. By promoting tree planting, the company supports carbon sequestration, soil health, and biodiversity, aligning with global sustainability goals.
