Ranchi: The Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, in collaboration with The Institution of Engineers India (IEI), Jharkhand State Centre, successfully hosted the 37th National Convention of Aerospace Engineers. The event, themed “National Seminar on Advances in Innovation in Aerospace Engineering,” brought together distinguished academics, researchers, and industry experts.
The convention opened with a welcome address by Dr. M. K. Gupta, Chairman of IEI, Jharkhand State Centre, who emphasized the role of IEI in providing a global platform for engineers to share knowledge and drive innovation.
Professor Sudip Das, Organizing Secretary and Registrar of BIT Mesra, highlighted India’s achievements in space exploration and underscored the importance of such conventions for advancing aerospace technology.
Er. Manish Kothari, Chairman of the Aerospace Engineering Division Board, spoke on the critical role of the aerospace industry in India’s technological growth and the contributions of the Indian Aerospace Industry (IAI) to national development. Prof. Indranil Manna, Vice-Chancellor of BIT Mesra, reflected on the institute’s 70-year legacy of excellence in engineering education and research.
Chief Guest Dr. G. A. Srinivas Murthy, Director of DRDL, praised BIT Mesra’s state-of-the-art facilities, positioning the institute as a leader in aerospace research and education. He emphasized that “Aerospace is the future of the country.”
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Er. Harun Ansaru, Hon. Secretary of IEI, Jharkhand State Centre, thanking the dignitaries, participants, and organizers for their contributions to the success of the convention.
During the event, notable figures in aerospace engineering were honored, including Dr. R. Rajasingh Thangadurai, Program Director of BrahMos, DRDL, Dr. Priyank Kumar, Associate Professor & HoD of Space Engineering and Rocketry at BIT Mesra, and Dr. Vijaymohana Kumar, Former Group Director of VSSC, ISRO. The Young Engineer Award was also presented to Dr. H. Jeevan Rao for his innovative work in aerospace technology.
The convention featured various technical sessions, panel discussions, and workshops, reinforcing the importance of fostering innovation and collaboration in aerospace engineering to enhance India’s global standing in the sector.
