BIT Mesra Hosts Workshop on Green Hydrogen as Key to Clean Energy Future

Ranchi: Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra is hosting a one-week workshop titled Green Hydrogen: The Future of Clean Energy, running from January 20 to 24, 2025, as part of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The event aims to explore green hydrogen’s potential as a clean and sustainable energy source.

Supported by the Advanced National Research Foundation (ANRF) and the Government of India, the workshop covers key topics such as green hydrogen production technologies, storage challenges, and its role in achieving net-zero emissions. Green hydrogen, produced using renewable energy, is seen as vital in decarbonizing industries, transportation, and power sectors.

The workshop’s inauguration featured Prof. Indranil Manna, Vice Chancellor of BIT Mesra, who emphasized the institution’s dedication to advancing sustainable energy solutions. The event also saw Dr. Narasinga Rao, Chief Guest and Adjunct Professor at IIT Hyderabad, discuss industrial advancements in green hydrogen, while Dr. P. Shanmugam, Senior Scientist at CSIR, highlighted its potential to transform energy landscapes and contribute to India’s energy security.

Key sessions of the workshop include advanced hydrogen production methods, strategies for storage and transportation, and its applications in industries like steel and cement. Experts from academia, research organizations, and the energy sector, including Dr. A.K. Roy, Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Om Prakash, and others, are leading the discussions and technical sessions.

The workshop provides an opportunity for students, researchers, and professionals to deepen their understanding of green hydrogen and its role in the future of clean energy. It also reinforces BIT Mesra’s commitment to fostering innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
