Washington: The Trump administration has arrested more than 500 individuals involved in illegal immigration and deported hundreds of others as part of a significant enforcement operation, just days after President Donald Trump vowed to intensify efforts to tackle illegal immigration.
According to reports, the operation utilized military aircraft to deport those arrested. The White House confirmed the arrests, with 538 individuals detained, and 373 detainers lodged. The names of the arrested individuals were also shared publicly.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized President Trump’s commitment to securing U.S. borders, telling Fox News, “President Trump is using every lever of his executive power to ensure the security of our nation… He is sending a very clear message that those attempting to illegally enter the country will face consequences.”
After securing a significant mandate in the November 5 elections, Trump reiterated his commitment to border security in his inaugural address. “All illegal entry will immediately be halted, and we will begin the process of returning millions of criminal aliens back to their home countries,” Trump stated, underscoring his administration’s ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration.
