Exit Polls Suggest BJP’s Comeback in Delhi, AAP Faces Setback

New Delhi: Exit polls suggest that the BJP is poised for a return to power in Delhi after 27 years, signaling a potential setback for the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which had sought a third consecutive term following victories in 2015 and 2020.

To secure a majority in the 70-seat Delhi Assembly, a party must win at least 36 seats. The BJP last held power in December 1998 before the Congress, led by Sheila Dikshit, took over and governed for three terms. However, Congress is predicted to win no more than 1-2 seats in this election, continuing its struggles since Dikshit’s tenure.

Most exit polls project a strong performance for the BJP, with estimates ranging from 39 to 51 seats, comfortably crossing the halfway mark. AAP, on the other hand, is expected to see a significant drop, with predictions suggesting it may secure only 25 to 32 seats. PMarq forecasts 39-49 seats for BJP and 21-31 for AAP, while Times Now JVC predicts 39-45 seats for BJP and 22-31 for AAP. People’s Pulse offers the highest estimate for BJP, suggesting 51-60 seats, while AAP could win just 10-19 seats. Matrize, however, forecasts a closer race, with BJP at 35-40 seats and AAP at 32-37 seats.

Exit polls are based on surveys conducted immediately after voting, aiming to predict results based on voters’ responses. While these polls offer early insights, they are not official and should be treated with caution, as the final results may differ once the votes are officially counted.
