Ranchi: President Droupadi Murmu, on the final day of her two-day visit to Ranchi, attended the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra as the Chief Guest. In her address, President Murmu emphasized the crucial role of youth in achieving the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India), praising BIT Mesra for its pioneering efforts in technical education in eastern India.
The President also highlighted the institute’s success in empowering girl students, noting how many have excelled in technology fields. Murmu further stressed the importance of innovation and the role Artificial Intelligence (AI) can play in transforming people’s lives. She encouraged the promotion of AI integration in higher education to bring about significant changes in society.
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, who also spoke at the event, praised the educational progress of girls, pointing out their superior performance over boys in the field of education in New India.
The event also marked the inauguration of the Research and Development Exhibition, showcasing cutting-edge innovations by BIT Mesra’s faculty and students. On the occasion of BIT Mesra’s 70th Foundation Day, President Murmu presented awards to distinguished alumni and faculty, while releasing a commemorative souvenir highlighting the institute’s legacy. She also unveiled a special commemorative medal to mark the milestone.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including CK Birla, Chairman of the Board of Governors, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Indranil Manna, and Registrar Professor Dr. Sandeep Dutta. Professor Dr. Shraddha Shivani, Dean of the Department of International Relations, also shared insights into the institute’s achievements and future goals.
