Bokaro: The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) is set to begin work on a new 1600 MW super critical thermal power plant in Chandrapura, Bokaro district of Jharkhand. The plant, consisting of two 800 MW units, is expected to be a significant addition to the region’s energy infrastructure.
Vijaya Nand Sharma, Senior General Manager and Head of the Project, confirmed that the central government has granted in-principle approval for the project. He announced that DVC will be responsible for both the construction and operation of the two super critical units, with an estimated investment of Rs 16,500 crore.
Sharma emphasized that the new plant will incorporate cutting-edge technology to enhance efficiency compared to the existing facilities. Additionally, the plant will meet all environmental standards, ensuring its operation is environmentally responsible.
The development is expected to generate hundreds of direct and indirect job opportunities, which will positively impact local businesses.
