MCMM-2025 Conclave Kicks Off in Digha, Advancing Marine Corrosion Management and Innovation

Kolkata: The 2nd Industrial Conclave on Maritime Corrosion Monitoring and Management (MCMM-2025) was inaugurated today at Hotel LeROI in Digha, marking the Platinum Jubilee of CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur. Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director of CSIR-NML, welcomed delegates from industry, academia, and research institutions, emphasizing NML’s role in corrosion management in metal, materials, and marine sectors.

Dr. Raghuvir Singh, Chairman of MCMM-2025, outlined the conclave’s goals and highlighted government efforts to boost coastal economic growth and mitigate corrosion. Dr. Nagahanumaiah, Director of CMTI, Bengaluru, stressed the economic impact of corrosion and the importance of sustainability and innovation in India.

The event featured technical presentations on marine corrosion mitigation, including insights from industry leaders like Mr. Vijay Kulkarni of Fosroc India and Mr. Dhruvesh Sah of Vector Corrosion Technologies. Sessions covered coatings, paints, and innovative marine infrastructure solutions.

CSIR-NML’s Marine Corrosion Research Station (MCRS) in Digha showcased technological interventions, a poster exhibition, and the JIGYASA program for both professionals and schoolchildren. The afternoon session focused on industrial challenges, with a panel discussion on “Prevention Strategies for Marine Corrosion and the Establishment of Marine Corrosion Simulation Centers.” The conclave aims to foster collaboration and advance marine corrosion management in the maritime industry.
