New Delhi: National Science Day is being celebrated across India today, marking the anniversary of Sir C.V. Raman’s discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ in 1928, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. This annual event, held every February 28, promotes science communication and education through various theme-based activities nationwide.
Union Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, will join in the celebrations of National Science Day 2025.
The theme for this year’s observance, “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for VIKSIT BHARAT,” focuses on inspiring young minds to embrace science and innovation. The goal is to emphasize the significance of science and its applications, showcasing India’s ongoing efforts and achievements for the betterment of humanity and the advancement of new technologies.
As part of its forward-looking vision, the government plans to extend the INSPIRE-MANAK scheme to students in Class 11 and 12, engaging them in scientific innovation at a critical stage of their education. This move aims to build a stronger scientific workforce and enhance India’s leadership in global research and development.
With breakthroughs in fields such as quantum computing, artificial intelligence, geospatial technology, and climate research, alongside initiatives to nurture inclusivity and young talent, India is steadily advancing toward a future driven by science and technology.
