India’s circular economy can generate $2 trillion market, 10 million jobs by 2050: Minister

New Delhi: India’s circular economy has the potential to create a $2 trillion market and generate nearly 10 million jobs by 2050, according to Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav.

Addressing the 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia and the Pacific in Jaipur, Yadav highlighted the government’s commitment to advancing a circular economy through its “Mission Circular Economy,” which is based on three key principles: eliminating waste and pollution, circulating products and materials, and regenerating nature.

The Minister also pointed out that the government is actively developing policies and initiatives to drive the nation toward a more sustainable, circular economy, adopting a whole-of-government approach. He stressed that production systems must align with circular economy practices to reduce resource dependence while boosting competitiveness.

The three-day forum, focused on “Realising Circular Societies Towards Achieving Sustainable Development Goals and Carbon Neutrality in Asia and the Pacific,” aims to promote collaboration and innovative solutions for sustainable growth in the region.
