Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh, and Tiger Shroff Face Legal Notice Over Misleading Pan Masala Ad

Jaipur: Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff have received notices from the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Jaipur regarding an advertisement promoting Vimal Pan Masala, which has been accused of being misleading.

The commission has also issued a similar notice to Vimal Kumar Agarwal, chairman of JB Industries, the manufacturer of Vimal Pan Masala. The actors and the company have been called to appear before the commission on March 19 at 10 a.m. The notice warns that if they fail to attend in person or through an authorized representative, the complaint will be decided without their presence.

Additionally, the commission has instructed all parties to submit their responses within 30 days from the receipt of the notice.

The action follows a complaint filed by Jaipur-based lawyer Yogendra Singh Badiyal, who claims the advertisement makes the misleading statement: “daane daane mein hai kesar ka dum” (every grain of this pan masala has the power of saffron). Badiyal alleges that this deceptive claim is luring consumers to purchase the product, despite it being harmful to health and potentially leading to serious diseases like cancer.

The lawyer also criticized the claim of saffron in the product, pointing out that saffron, which costs approximately Rs 4 lakh per kilogram, cannot be mixed into a pan masala priced at just Rs 5. He argues that no saffron or its fragrance is present in the product, and that the public is being misled by the advertisement.

The case has drawn attention to the potential dangers of promoting products with health risks through deceptive marketing tactics.
