Amit Accuses Hemant Government of Reneging on Promise to Displaced People

Bokaro: Displaced residents of the Bokaro Steel Plant took to the streets today, burning an effigy of the Hemant Soren-led state government at Sector 9 Basanti More in Bokaro. Their protest was in response to the government’s failure to grant panchayat status to their villages, a promise made during the assembly elections.

BJP leader Kumar Amit, who was present at the protest, expressed strong dissatisfaction with the state’s delay in fulfilling its electoral promise. He criticized the Hemant government for procrastinating on the matter, stating that while the state government has the authority to grant panchayat status, it is absurd for officials to cite the need for consent from SAIL management as a reason for delay.

He further pointed out that Bokaro MLA’s apparent contentment with the government’s stance is equally troubling. Amit stressed that the displaced people will not be deceived any longer and that the Hemant government must deliver on its promise.

Displaced leader Uttam Mahato also voiced frustration, claiming that the displaced community had been deceived for too long. He vowed that the fight for panchayat status for these villages would intensify, with the displaced people ready to take strong action for their rights.

A large crowd of displaced residents, including prominent figures like Vinay Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Ramdayal Singh, Manish Kumar, Rahul Singh, Sunil Mahato, and others, attended the protest. They all rallied behind the demand for the long-overdue panchayat status for their villages, signaling that the issue will continue to be a focal point of their fight for justice.
