IIT-ISM Alumnus Sanjiv Kumar Singh Appointed CMD of Hindustan Copper Limited

Dhanbad: Sanjiv Kumar Singh has been appointed as the Chairman-Cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), with the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). Singh, who is currently serving as the Director (Mining) at HCL, brings over 30 years of expertise to his new role in the mining sector.

A graduate of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, Singh holds both a B.Tech and M.Tech in Open Cast Mine Planning. He began his career in 1987 at Coal India Limited, where he held various engineering roles before transitioning to NTPC in 2008. At NTPC, Singh played a pivotal role in enhancing mining operations, optimizing costs, and shaping operational strategies.

In 2022, Singh joined Hindustan Copper Limited, where he made significant contributions to revitalizing dormant mines and implementing cutting-edge technologies.

Ashok Kumar, General Secretary of PAN IIT Alumni, expressed pride in Singh’s appointment, noting the excellence fostered at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, which will celebrate its centenary next year. With Singh’s leadership, HCL is expected to strengthen its operations and drive innovation in India’s mining industry.
