Salima Tete to Lead 26-Member Squad for Australia Tour

New Delhi: Hockey India on Monday unveiled the 26-member Indian Women’s Hockey Team for their upcoming tour of Australia, set to take place from April 26 to May 4 at the Perth Hockey Stadium. The five-match series will include two games against Australia A, followed by three matches against the senior Australian national team.

Midfield dynamo Salima Tete will lead the squad as captain, while experienced forward Navneet Kaur has been named vice-captain. Goalkeeping duties will be shared between veteran Savita and rising star Bichu Devi Kharibam.

The tour is seen as a vital preparatory outing for the Indian team ahead of the European leg of the FIH Pro League 2024-25, scheduled for June. The matches in Australia are expected to provide the team with valuable international exposure and match practice against top-tier opponents.
