Two Killed, Six Injured in Mass Shooting at Florida State University

TALLAHASSEE, FL: A shooting at Florida State University in Tallahassee on Thursday left two men dead and six others injured. The victims killed were not students. The suspected gunman was shot by police and is currently hospitalized.

This marks Florida’s sixth mass shooting in 2025. The incident occurred near several campus buildings, which remain active crime scenes. Authorities confirmed only one shooter was involved.

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare is treating the wounded, though further details have not been released. FSU has canceled all classes, events, and operations through Friday as investigations continue.

Students described scenes of panic, with alarms blaring and messages warning of an active shooter. “It was a really scary event,” said student Raul Pedraza.

President Trump has been briefed, and both the White House and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said they are monitoring the situation closely.

Tallahassee Police confirmed the campus is secure, though officers remain on-site for ongoing investigation.
