Chandrapura: Marking the global celebration of Earth Day, the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) Chandrapura management, along with the EM & PC department, organized a tree plantation drive near the Chhay pond on Monday, reaffirming their commitment to environmental conservation.
The initiative saw the active participation of senior DVC officials, including Senior General Manager and Project Head Vijaya Nand Sharma, Senior GMs P.K. Mishra and Avijit Ghosh, Deputy GM Rajiv Kumar, and several other officers and staff members such as Satyendra Kumar, R.P. Singh, Rajiv Tiwari, Ashutosh Saha, Akshay Kumar, Subodh Paswan, Badrinarayan Rathia, Dhananjay Kumar Nirala, and TP Yadav. Local residents also joined hands in planting saplings, fostering community participation in the green initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma urged everyone to plant at least one tree in their name and take responsibility for its care. “Earth Day reminds us of our collective duty to safeguard nature,” he said, adding that such events are part of a broader global effort to protect and restore the environment.
The program emphasized the importance of tree plantation as a key step in combating climate change and preserving biodiversity, reinforcing the message that environmental protection is a shared responsibility.
