Kailash Mansarovar Yatra to Resume via Uttarakhand Route from June 30 After Four-Year Hiatus

Dehradun: The revered Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is set to resume from June 30 via the Uttarakhand route, marking its return after a four-year suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The spiritual journey, considered one of the most significant pilgrimages in Hinduism, will be conducted under the joint oversight of the Uttarakhand Government and the Ministry of External Affairs.

The Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) will manage the logistics and organization of the 22-day yatra. Pilgrims will begin their journey from Delhi, traveling through Pithoragarh district’s Lipulekh Pass to enter China and reach the sacred sites of Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake.

A total of 250 pilgrims will participate, divided into five batches of 50 people each. The first group is expected to cross into China on July 10, with the final batch scheduled to return on August 22.

The route includes overnight stops at Tanakpur, Dharchula, Gunji, and Nabhidhang, with the return journey passing through Bundi, Chaukori, and Almora before concluding in Delhi.

In light of the challenging terrain and high altitude, medical screenings will be conducted in Delhi and at Gunji with the assistance of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to ensure the safety and health of the participants.
