Authorities believe the attackers were members of The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group of the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. According to eyewitness accounts, the assailants reportedly asked tourists their names and religious affiliations, and in some cases, forced individuals to undress to verify their religion before opening fire.
Bokaro, Jharkhand: A man identified as Mohammad Naushad was arrested by Bokaro Police on Tuesday after he allegedly posted a controversial message on social media thanking Pakistan in the aftermath of a devastating terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Baisaran Valley.
The incident unfolded shortly after a major terrorist strike in the popular tourist region of Pahalgam, where at least 27 people were killed and dozens injured. This marks the deadliest attack in the Kashmir Valley since the Pulwama bombing in 2019. Most of the victims were tourists visiting from various parts of India.
Following the attack, Naushad, a resident of Millat Nagar in Bokaro and son of Mohammad Mustaq, sparked public outrage by posting “Thank you Pakistan” online. His remarks prompted swift action by local authorities. Bokaro Police have taken him into custody and are currently questioning him in connection with the post.

The victims of the attack included six tourists from Maharashtra, three each from Karnataka and Gujarat, two from West Bengal, and one each from Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Nepal. A local Kashmiri civilian was also among those killed.
The brutal nature of the attack has drawn sharp condemnation from across the political spectrum, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowing swift justice for the victims. Security forces have launched a wide-scale counter-terror operation in the region, and intelligence agencies are intensifying their efforts to dismantle the TRF network believed to be operating from Pakistan.
As the country mourns the tragic loss of innocent lives, calls for increased security and counter-terror vigilance are growing louder.
