Dhanbad DC Inspires IIT-ISM Batch 2024 with Career Guidance

Dhanbad: IIT-ISM featured an inspiring address by Madhvi Mishra, the Deputy Commissioner of Dhanbad on the Day 3 of the special orientation session on Thursday.

Speaking to an audience of around 1,100 newly admitted undergraduate students at the Penman Auditorium, Mishra offered valuable insights on achieving academic excellence, setting career goals, and preparing for the Civil Services Examination.

Accompanied by IIT (ISM) Director Professor Sukumar Mishra and other faculty and staff, Mishra emphasised the importance of perseverance and resilience. She urged students to remain dedicated to their goals and to focus on contributing positively to their community and nation.

Mishra shared personal anecdotes to illustrate her points. Reflecting on her own experiences, she noted, “Failure is a part of the journey, but what matters is how it affects you. It’s crucial to stay motivated despite setbacks.” She recounted a challenging moment during her attempt to join the Indian Economic Service, which led to her being bedridden. “The key takeaway is never to give up,” she advised.

She also encouraged students to detach from the outcome and accept results, whether or not they align with expectations. “We should strive hard but remain detached from the outcome,” she added, acknowledging the spiritual aspect of her advice.

The orientation session was also attended by Professor Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director; Professor Rajni Singh, Dean of Corporate Communications; Professor MK Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs; and Professor SK Gupta, Dean of Student Welfare.
