Ranchi: Members of the Jharkhand Pradesh Sanyukt Shikshak Morcha met with Chief Minister Hemant Soren to press for the implementation of the Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme for teachers, similar to what Bihar has provided since 2021. The delegation highlighted the disparity, noting that while other state employees receive promotions and MACP benefits regularly, teachers have been left out.
State convenor Amin Ahmed and spokesperson Arun Kumar Das emphasized that the economic hardships faced by teachers could be alleviated with the timely application of MACP benefits. They also urged the Chief Minister to address additional demands, including raising the retirement age for all state employees from 60 to 62 years, aligning with practices in Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh.
The teachers’ delegation also called for a simplified process for home district transfers and urged for a reduction in NGO interference in the education sector to enhance the effectiveness of teaching.
The delegation, which included Amin Ahmed, Vijay Bahadur Singh, Arun Kumar Das, Ashutosh Kumar, Mohd. Fakhruddin, and Maqsood Zafar Hadi, presented their case in detail, expressing frustration over ongoing issues and seeking prompt action before the election code of conduct takes effect.
