Dhanbad: In response to the growing need for an efficient and sustainable transport solution, IIT (ISM) has officially launched a battery-operated E-Rickshaw transport system. This new initiative aims to enhance campus mobility while aligning with the institute’s commitment to environmental stewardship and cost efficiency.
The E-Rickshaw system was inaugurated today at the Penman Ground by Professor Sukumar Mishra, Director of IIT-ISM. The event was attended by key figures including Professor Alok Kumar Das, Dean of the Institute of Industrial Engineering (IIE); Professor Amit Rai Dixit, Dean of Infrastructure and Prabodh Pandey, Registrar of IIT-ISM.
Ashish Kumar, Officer in Charge of the Vehicle Section, announced that five E-Rickshaws have been introduced as part of the new transport system. “All five E-Rickshaws will operate within the campus,” Kumar stated. He also highlighted that the introduction of this system is expected to significantly reduce the campus’s carbon footprint and improve overall sustainability.
The E-Rickshaw transport system is designed to provide better mobility and safety for the expanding IIT-ISM campus, reflecting the institute’s dedication to both practical and environmental considerations.
