Ranchi: Amin Ahmed, Central General Secretary of the Jharkhand Raj Urdu Shikshak Sangh, has called on the Education Department to swiftly fill vacant Urdu teacher positions in Chief Minister Excellent Schools and Adarsh Vidyalayas. This plea follows the department’s earlier invitation for applications via the e-Vidyavahini (eVV) app, which attracted 77 applications from qualified Urdu teachers.
On 25 July this year, all applicants participated in an orientation and online examination, with the department warning of potential action against those who did not attend. As a result, 37 candidates were placed on a merit list and participated in a centralized counseling session on August 30, 2024. However, only one vacancy for an Urdu teacher was announced, raising concerns about the significant reduction in available positions.
Ahmed expressed frustration over this decision, pointing out a prior letter that indicated 11 sanctioned posts for TGT Urdu in Ranchi district, of which five were still vacant. He highlighted the urgent need for adequate staffing in the 80 CM Utkrishta Vidyalayas and 325 Adarsh Uchch Vidyalayas statewide, warning that the current shortfall could severely impact the educational prospects of Urdu-speaking students.
In a proactive response, a delegation from the association met with Minority Welfare Minister Hafizul Hasan Ansari, who acknowledged the issue and directed the Education Secretary to take appropriate action. The delegation, which included prominent union members, reiterated their commitment to escalate the matter to higher authorities, including the Chief Minister and Education Minister, if necessary.
