Khadi Mela-cum-Udyami Bazaar kicks off in Gaya, Featuring Local Handicrafts

Gaya: The 12-day Khadi Mela-cum-Udyami Bazaar kicked off today at Gandhi Maidan, Gaya, with an inauguration by the Bihar State Khadi Village Industries Board. District Magistrate Dr. Tyagarajan SM officiated at the event, highlighting the participation of 115 Khadi and Village Industries institutions from across the state.

During his visit to the various Khadi stalls, Dr. Tyagarajan emphasized the importance of such fairs for beneficiaries under initiatives like the Chief Minister Udyami Yojana. He encouraged the public to visit and take advantage of the diverse offerings available at the fair.

Stalls featuring Khadi, handloom, handicrafts, and products from the Chief Minister Udyami Yojana, as well as from PMEGP and Jeevika Groups, are prominently displayed. Notably, beneficiaries from the Chief Minister Udyami Yojana have set up their stalls, showcasing a wide array of Khadi and woolen items with unique designs for public purchase.

The fair also features products made from crash crops, such as bamboo, crafted by women from various districts, which have garnered positive responses from visitors. Handmade and modern products produced in Bihar are available at each counter, attracting a significant number of consumers.

Running from October 18 to October 29, 2024, the fair will be open daily from 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Nikhil Dhanraj Nippanikar, Chief Executive Officer of the Bihar State Khadi Village Industries Board, noted the participation of Khadi and Village Industries institutions from districts including Gopalganj, Siwan, Madhubani, Bhagalpur, Gaya, and Banka.

The fair aims to promote Khadi clothing and village industry products, providing a marketplace for producers to boost sales and support the workers involved in these industries.
