Ranchi: In a series of disciplinary actions during the ongoing elections in Jharkhand, two presiding officers have been removed from their duties for misconduct.
The first incident involves the presiding officer of Deoghar, who was found near the vote casting compartment, violating Election Commission guidelines. The misconduct was flagged through webcasting surveillance, leading to immediate action by the authorities. The officer was swiftly removed from their post, as proximity to the voting compartment is considered a serious breach under the Election Commission’s rules.
Meanwhile, in Madhupur, the presiding officer has been arrested following a complaint that he was allegedly casting votes in favor of a JMM candidate. An FIR has been filed against the officer, and he has been taken into custody. The district administration acted on a complaint from a political party in Jamtara, which had raised concerns about slow voting at booth number 344. The complaint led to the officer’s removal, which was deemed a violation of the Election Commission’s protocols.
Vishal Sagar, Deputy Commissioner and election in-charge of Deoghar district, confirmed the actions. He reported that the presiding officer of Booth No. 111 in Madhupur had been replaced due to the misconduct during the polling process. Sagar emphasized the seriousness of the matter and directed a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Legal action has also been initiated against the officer.
These actions reflect the Election Commission’s strict adherence to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring fair voting practices.
