Historic Win: 12 Women Elected to Jharkhand Assembly for the First Time

Ranchi: In a historic moment for Jharkhand politics, 12 women have secured seats in the state assembly following the recent elections, marking the highest-ever representation of women in the legislative body. The 12 victorious women include 8 from the INDIA Alliance and 4 from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), making it a significant milestone in the state’s political history.

The women elected from the INDIA Alliance have emerged victorious in several key constituencies. From the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Kalpana Murmu Soren triumphed in Gandey, Louis Marandi won in Jama, and Savita Mahato claimed victory in Ichagarh. On the Congress side, Nisat Alam emerged victorious in Pakur, Deepika Pandey Singh in Mahagama, Mamta Devi in Ramgarh, Shweta Singh in Bokaro, and Shilpi Neha Tirkey in Mandar.

On the BJP side, Neera Yadav secured a win in Koderma, Manju Kumari in Jamua, Ragini Singh in Jharia, and Purnima Sahu in Jamshedpur East.

JMM’s Women Winners:

Gandey: Kalpana Murmu Soren defeated BJP’s Munia Devi by a margin of 17,142 votes.

Jama: Former minister Louis Marandi beat BJP’s Suresh Murmu by 5,738 votes.

Ichagarh: Savita Mahato triumphed over AJSU’s Harelal Mahato with a commanding lead of 26,523 votes.

Congress Women Winners:

Pakur: Nisat Alam won with an overwhelming margin of 86,029 votes against AJSU’s Azhar Islam.

Mahagama: Deepika Pandey Singh defeated BJP’s Ashok Kumar by 18,645 votes.

Ramgarh: Mamta Devi emerged victorious with a margin of 6,790 votes over AJSU’s Sunita Chaudhary.

Bokaro: Shweta Singh defeated BJP’s Biranchi Narayan by 7,207 votes.

Mandar: Shilpi Neha Tirkey won by 22,803 votes against BJP’s Sunny Toppo.

BJP Women Winners:

Koderma: Neera Yadav defeated RJD’s Subhash Prasad Yadav by 5,815 votes.

Jamua: Manju Kumari won by a decisive 32,631 votes over JMM’s Kedar Hazra.

Jharia: Ragini Singh triumphed over Congress’s Purnima Neeraj Singh by 14,511 votes.

Jamshedpur East: Purnima Sahu secured a major victory against Congress’s Ajay Kumar, with a margin of 42,871 votes.

This marks a groundbreaking achievement in Jharkhand’s political landscape, as for the first time, 12 women will represent the state in the assembly, reflecting a significant shift toward gender inclusivity in state politics.
