New Delhi: The Indian government announced that 5G services have been successfully rolled out in 779 out of 783 districts across the country. In a written response in the Lok Sabha, Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, provided details of the nationwide 5G rollout, highlighting significant progress in expanding the telecom infrastructure.
Dr. Sekhar stated that more than 4.6 lakh 5G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) have been installed across India, ensuring that both urban and rural areas, including coastal regions, are covered by the next-generation network. The Minister emphasized that telecom service providers have gone beyond the minimum rollout requirements, significantly expanding 5G coverage throughout the country.
The minister also pointed out that the widespread availability of both 4G and 5G networks has led to a surge in the adoption of various digital services. He noted an increase in online banking, e-commerce, online education, and government services, with more users embracing these platforms due to improved connectivity.
The government’s push for 5G infrastructure aims to boost India’s digital economy, improve service delivery, and enhance technological capabilities across sectors, paving the way for further innovation and growth.
