IIT ISM Dhanbad Joins Hands with NIAMT Ranchi to Enhance Mining Machinery Manufacturing

Dhanbad: IIT ISM Dhanbad has entered into a partnership with the National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (NIAMT), Ranchi, to boost the manufacturing of mining machinery with a focus on sustainability and innovation. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to integrate Industry 4.0 principles into manufacturing processes.

The MoU was signed at IIT ISM Dhanbad by Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Director of IIT ISM, and Prof. Partha Protim Chattopadhyay, Director of NIAMT. The agreement highlights the importance of knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration between the two institutions to foster mutual growth and technological advancement.

The MoU outlines several initiatives aimed at collaboration and growth. It includes joint research and development projects to improve manufacturing technologies. Both institutions will share resources and expertise to foster growth. There will be exchange programs for students and faculty to engage in knowledge-sharing activities. The partnership will focus on sustainability, including optimizing resources, reusing machinery, and adopting eco-friendly practices. There will also be a strong emphasis on integrating technology, such as automation, IoT, and quality management, to improve performance. Additionally, skill development programs will be established to nurture talent and promote entrepreneurial skills.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Suvrokamal Dutta, a renowned expert in political, economic, and foreign policy matters, along with senior faculty members from both IIT ISM and NIAMT.

NIAMT, formerly known as the National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology, specializes in advanced engineering education, research, and consultancy. This partnership with IIT ISM is expected to bring significant advancements to mining machinery manufacturing, contributing to a sustainable and technology-driven future.
