Jamshedpur: The 2nd edition of the Fr Enright Cricket Tournament (X-FECT) at XLRI Jamshedpur came to a thrilling close, with XLRI BMHR emerging as champions in the Men’s Category. In an exciting final, XLRI BMHR defeated Vintage Warriors (DTDC) by 26 runs.
Nikhil from XLRI BMHR was named Man of the Match for his explosive 61 runs off 20 balls. The Blank Panthers (KFMS) secured 3rd place.
In the Women’s Category, XL Gliders triumphed over XL Strikers by 44 runs, with Samreen Siddiqui of XL Gliders earning Player of the Match honors for her 43 runs off 19 balls.
The closing ceremony, attended by XLRI faculty, staff, students, and sponsors, saw the winners receive mementos, trophies, and cash prizes in various categories. In the Women’s Category, Sanchi of XL Gliders was named Most Valuable Player. In the Men’s Category, Lalit Sejwal took home multiple awards, including Most Sixes, Best Batsman, and Man of the Tournament, scoring an impressive 389 runs, including 49 sixes in just four innings. Vighneshwaran was recognized for the highest number of catches, while Rohit Paulos of the Loyola Alumni Association received the Best Bowler award for picking up 14 wickets.
The tournament, themed “Play for a Cause,” aimed to promote the values of Caring and Sharing. With 14 teams participating, including women cricketers for the first time, the event was a great success. It not only provided an opportunity for healthy competition but also raised awareness about giving back to society.
