18 Injured as Delta Air Lines Flight Flips During Landing at Toronto Pearson Airport

Canada: A Delta Air Lines flight flipped upside down upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, injuring at least 18 people, including children. The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. ET, following a snowstorm and amid windy weather conditions.

The flight, Delta Connection Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air using a CRJ-900 aircraft, was traveling from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in the U.S. with 76 passengers and four crew members onboard.

In a statement on social media, Delta confirmed the mishap, stating that the aircraft was involved in a single-aircraft accident during landing at Toronto Pearson. While 18 people were injured, the airline reported no fatalities.

The injured passengers were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Delta announced that all flights to and from Toronto Pearson would be canceled for the remainder of the evening and issued a travel waiver to affected passengers.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian expressed his support, saying, “The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected by today’s incident at Toronto Pearson International Airport.”

The cause of the accident is under investigation, with the Transportation Safety Board leading the inquiry. Toronto Pearson Airport has advised passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport, while the airport remains open.
