New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has seized cryptocurrencies valued at nearly Rs 24 crore in connection with the infamous GainBitcoin scam. In a statement, the CBI confirmed that its teams had conducted coordinated searches across more than 60 locations nationwide, including major cities like Delhi, Pune, Nanded, Kolhapur, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Mohali, Jhansi, and Hubli, as part of the ongoing investigation.

During these searches, CBI officials uncovered cryptocurrencies worth Rs 23.94 crore, alongside multiple hardware crypto wallets, documents, 34 laptops, hard disks, and 12 mobile phones. The seized materials are currently being analyzed to uncover further details about the misappropriation of funds and potential international transactions tied to the scam.

The GainBitcoin scheme, which operated under fraudulent promises, was launched in 2015 by the accused. Investors were lured with the assurance of 10% monthly returns on Bitcoin investments over an 18-month period, which ultimately led to significant financial losses for numerous individuals.
