Dhanbad: IIT-ISM Dhanbad has reason to celebrate as two of its students, Aaromal S Ram and Nitu Kumari, secured second place in the prestigious Bajaj TORQ competition held at Bajaj Auto’s headquarters in Pune. Both third-year B.Tech Mechanical Engineering students, Aaromal and Nitu were part of the Naresh Vashisht Centre of Tinkering and Innovation (NVCTI) at IIT-ISM.
The duo competed against over 6,000 participants from top institutions across the country, progressing through three intense rounds: a quiz, a problem-solving challenge, and a final presentation. Their innovative solution, an adjustable footrest for motorcycles, impressed the esteemed jury, securing them a runner-up spot in their category.
As part of their achievement, Aaromal and Nitu were awarded a trophy, a certificate, and a cash prize of ₹2 lakh. Their success is a reflection of their technical expertise, dedication, and problem-solving skills, which were nurtured under the mentorship at NVCTI.
Professor Sukumar Mishra, Director of IIT-ISM Dhanbad, expressed his pride in their achievement, stating, “This accomplishment is a testament to the innovation-driven ecosystem at IIT-ISM Dhanbad. We are extremely proud of Aaromal and Nitu for their stellar performance on such a prestigious platform.”
