CBI Raids Former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel’s Homes in Mahadev Betting App Probe

Raipur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches today at the residences of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in Raipur and Bhilai, along with those of a senior police officer and close associates, in connection with the ongoing Mahadev betting app case. The raids also targeted properties linked to Congress leaders and police officials in Raipur and Durg districts.

Baghel, a senior Congress leader, was set to depart for Delhi for an All India Congress Committee (AICC) ‘Drafting Committee’ meeting ahead of the party session in Ahmedabad on April 8-9, but CBI teams arrived at his homes before his departure.

Baghel’s office addressed the situation on social media, stating, “Now CBI has come. Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is scheduled to go to Delhi today for the meeting of the ‘Drafting Committee’ for the AICC meeting to be held in Ahmedabad (Gujarat) on April 8 and 9. Even before that, CBI reached Raipur and Bhilai residence.”

This raid follows the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) searches on March 10 at the residences of Baghel, his son Chaitanya Baghel, and others, related to an alleged multi-crore liquor scam.
