Deoghar: Coronavirus outbreak put a halt on the world’s famous Sharavani mela at Baba Baidyanath Dham Deoghar this year. The state government extended the lockdown restrictions till 31 July in a bid the combat the COVID-19 spread. The total COVID-19 positive cases have surged up to 2294 in the State.
Amidst lockdown, the district administration is preparing to organize e-worship at Baba Baidyanath Deoghar and Baba Basukinath temple in absence of Shravani mela,
The tourism department has prepared a proposal in this connection and has sent to Chief Minister Hemant Soren for approval. The Chief Minister can take a decision on this by meeting with the officials soon, sources said.
We are now planning to prevent any form of the congregation at temples, said Nancy Sahay DC Deoghar.
“Five entry points around Babadham temple have been barricaded,” she added.
We have also informed the authorities in Bihar to flash information to the public about the continued lockdown at Babadham temple in Deoghar, said DC.
Notably, every year around 50 lakhs devotees (Kanwariyas), rushed to Deoghar from across the world during the Sharavan month to adore Lord Shiva which is one among the 12 Jyotirlinga. The Kanwariyas used to trek around 110 kilometres carrying Ganga’s water (Ganga Jal) from Sultanganj (Bihar) to Babadham Temple at Deoghar to offer it to Lord Shiva.
