RNS: ISRO successfully launched the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle— PSLV-C54 rocket carrying Oceansat-3 also known as Earth Observation Satellite-6, and 8 nanosatellites at 11.56 am from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.
The mission payloads including Oceansat and eight other nanosatellites have separated in the specified two hours in two different sun-synchronous orbits.
Notably, EOS-6 is the Oceansat series’ third-generation satellite. This is the 56th flight of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and the 24th Flight of the PSLV-XL version with 6 PSOM-XLs.
ISRO’s ever-reliable PSLV rocket once again proved its mettle when the polar satellite launch vehicle placed an earth observation satellite and eight other co-passenger satellites in multiple orbits, in one of the longest missions.
ISRO Chairman S.Somnath said that specific data from the satellite will be used by the Government departments.
Mission Director S.R. Biju told PSLV rockets are the workhorses of ISRO and they never fail to deliver.
The director of the Space vehicle K.Thenmozhi said that the payloads are indigenous and will provide crucial Data including maritime security and detection of cyclones in potential zones
