RNS: Trees are essential to the ecosystem, preventing soil erosion and supporting local biodiversity. In line with its commitment towards a green environment, DPS Bokaro observed the International Day of Forests and Global Tree Plantation Day today.
On this occasion, a plantation drive was conducted in the school premises. Saplings of mango, amla, litchi, lemon, and coconut were planted near the ‘Jaivik Harit Vatika’ of the school. Under the stewardship of Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar, the students, teachers, and officials of the school enthusiastically planted saplings to spread the message ‘Go Green’.
The Principal said that the children must connect with nature and soil. It also helps in the development of their immunity. He added that trees have the most crucial role in maintaining the balance of nature. Indeed, trees and plants are the basis of the living world. For a better environment, we must plant at least one sapling on every occasion.
He also shared the efforts made by the school every day in the direction of environmental protection. “It has always been our prime concern to raise a wider perspective on social and environmental concerns in the students. The solar power panels, rainwater harvesting, vermicompost, organic farming, and the garden of medicinal plants- Charak Vatika are small initiatives through which we try to inculcate healthy habits by engaging. “Students are in the process of learning,” he added.
On the occasion, students were also taught the tricks of gardening in the school’s eco-garden of the school.
