RNS: Chandrayaan-3 will be launched into space by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in July this year.
According to the chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), S. Somanath, who met with the new agency, “The target is to launch Chandrayaan-3 in July in the time slot based on orbital parameters, and the ISRO is working towards that end.”
The objective of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, which is a continuation of the Chandrayaan-2 project, is to demonstrate an end-to-end capability in safely landing and wandering on the moon. LVM3 would launch it from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. It comprises an indigenous lander module, a propulsion module, and a rover.
Both the lander and the rover will be equipped with scientific payloads so that tests can be conducted on the surface of the moon.
The mission’s primary objective is to develop and showcase new technologies necessary for future interplanetary trips. The lander will be able to perform a soft landing at a particular location on the moon, after which it will deploy the rover, which will conduct an in-situ chemical examination of the lunar surface while it is moving about the moon.
ISRO is currently engaged in many space exploration missions as part of the Indian lunar exploration plan.
