RNS: Aiming to create awareness on HIV AIDS, its causes, symptoms and necessary measures for prevention, ESL Steel Limited, a national steel manufacturer from the Vedanta Group, in association with the Citizen Foundation and Jharkhand State AIDS Control Society (JSACS), organized a webinar in Bokaro.
More than 500 persons from different locations actively participated in the webinar organsied on the theme “Building on the HIV response to introduce innovation in a pandemic”, informed a Public Relations Official of ESL.
Bhuvnesh Pratap Singh, IAS Project Director, JSACS, N.L. Vhatte, CEO, ESL, Dr. Ashok Kumar Pathak, Civil Surgeon, Bokaro, Ganesh Reddy, Secretary cum CEO, Citizens Foundation, Ashish Ranjan, Head Community Relations, ESL, Dr. K.K. Sinha, Medical Officer, Project Aarogya, Hemant Tirkey, Director, Operations, Citizens Foundation and Rina Devi, AWC, Chatatand were the key speakers in the webinar.
Speaking on the occasion, N.L. Vhatte said, over 200 truck drivers and several labourers enter ESL plant premises on a daily basis. Through this webinar, we can not only create awareness among these people, but others also those who are associated with us.
“Many of our health initiatives, including STI testing camps, awareness sessions, street plays and leaflets have helped in spreading information such as symptoms, precautions, and safety measures about HIV/AIDS. Additionally, ESL’s Mobile Health Vans are spreading awareness in 27 surrounding villages. Being a caring corporate, ESL actively contributed in India’s fight against COVID-19,” he added.
We also remain committed towards the development of the state of Jharkhand and India. Lastly, I would like to thank JSACS and the Citizens Foundation for joining hands with ESL and making the event a success, said Vhatte.
“Jharkhand State AIDS Control Society has been working to help every person living with AIDS right from medical supervision and care to treatment with dignity. I’m really amazed by ESL’s remarkable commitment for the development of community and serving the society,” said Bhuvnesh.
“We are happy that ESL is helping us in fighting against the disease that has several misconceptions about it with Citizens Foundation. Together, we are being able to spread awareness about it among the most vulnerable people around us and gradually beat the disease one day,” he added.
ESL prioritizes the health of its community members and that is why it has always been active in overcoming any crisis, including the pandemic.
