RNS : International Women’s Day was celebrated with great fervour at the Officer’s Club by the women of Damodar Valley Corporation’s (DVC) Chandrapura Thermal Power Station and local residents.
The event saw the felicitation of several distinguished women, including Bhavya Thakur, wife of Senior General Manager and Project Head Manoj Kumar Thakur, Rekha Sah, wife of Senior General Manager Rampravesh Sah, Mantu Rai, Lakshmi Sahu, and others.
The celebration commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the guests of honour. In her address, Bhavya Thakur emphasized the power of women and urged them to stand united to achieve empowerment in society. She called for considering foeticide as a heinous crime and advocated for strict enforcement of the law against it.
She also stressed the importance of education and skill development for women, stating that education is essential for societal progress. She emphasized the need to make women self-reliant through skill development initiatives.
Senior General Manager and Project Head Manoj Kumar Thakur praised the revered status of women in India as the epitome of motherly power. He highlighted women’s contribution to solving problems and their role in shaping the future through their dedication and knowledge.
Rampravesh Sah, another Senior General Manager, spoke about the need to empower women in rural areas and ensure their participation in various spheres of life. He emphasized the importance of gender equality and the potential of women to contribute significantly to society.
General Manager Abhijit Ghosh commended women for their ability to fulfill responsibilities both at home and in the wider world. He highlighted the strength that comes from the inspiration of motherly power.
The event also included various competitions and fire safety training conducted by the Fire Department of the Central Industrial Security Force and the Security Department of DVC. Besides others, Ravindra Kumar, Ashok Choubey, and Akshay Kumar, were present on the occasion.
