RNS: In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at nine locations in the capital city of Ranchi early this morning. These raids are part of a larger investigation into a multi-crore land scam.
The ED has already made several arrests in connection with the land scam, including individuals such as Amit Agarwal, Dilip Ghosh, former Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi Chhavi Ranjan, Revenue Sub-Inspector of Bargain Bhanu Pratap Prasad, Pradeep Bagchi, and land brokers Afsar Ali, Imtiaz Khan, and Talha Khan.
Among the locations raided, one is linked to JMM leader Antu Tirkey in Bariatu. Additionally, the premises of Congress leader and land broker Priya Ranjan Sahay are also under scrutiny. Sahay, residing in Kokar, is alleged to have procured forged documents from the Kolkata Registry office and sold land to influential individuals.
Notably, he was recently involved in a transaction to sell a significant portion of land in Chandwe, located on the outskirts of Ranchi, to a businessman based in Kolkata.
These raids are based on information obtained from Saddam, the alleged mastermind behind the creation of fake deeds in the land scam case involving former Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Saddam is currently in ED custody, and these raids are a part of the ongoing investigation into the matter.
