Mamata Offers Shelter to Helpless People from Bangladesh Amid Unrest

# BJP-led Central government is not stable, will collapse any day…

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Sunday that her state stands prepared to provide refuge to “helpless people” from Bangladesh, amidst ongoing violent protests in the neighboring country over government job reservations.

Speaking at her party’s ‘Martyrs’ Day’ rally in Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee clarified, “I cannot comment on Bangladesh as it is a sovereign nation. The Indian government is the authority to address the situation there. However, if someone seeks shelter and comes knocking on our door, we will accommodate them. There is a UN resolution that mandates neighboring countries to offer refuge to refugees.”

The Chief Minister’s statement comes in the wake of escalating protests in Bangladesh against government policies, prompting concerns over safety and security for affected individuals.

Banerjee’s assurance underscores West Bengal’s readiness to extend humanitarian aid to those seeking sanctuary amidst the turmoil across the border.
