New Delhi: The government has directed Public Sector Insurance companies to expedite their support for victims of the recent landslide in Kerala, aiming for a swift processing and settlement of insurance claims.
The Union Finance Ministry has instructed the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) to fast-track disbursements for policyholders under the PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. In a move to streamline the process, the Ministry has relaxed documentation requirements to facilitate quicker claim settlements.
Insurance companies are actively reaching out to policyholders in the affected districts—Wayanad, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Thrissur—to offer assistance and ensure they have the necessary contact details.
To oversee the efficient processing of claims, the General Insurance Council will collaborate with insurers and maintain a dedicated portal for daily updates on claim statuses. The Ministry reiterated the Central Government’s commitment to providing prompt support to disaster victims and ensuring they receive necessary aid without unnecessary delays.
