CTPS Hosts Blood Donation Drive Ahead of Independence Day

Chandrapura: In a remarkable act of corporate social responsibility, the Chandrapura Thermal Power Station (CTPS), a unit of Damodar Valley Corporation, (DVC) orchestrated a highly successful blood donation camp today, in partnership with Shaheed Tilka Manjhi Memorial Hospital and the Indian Red Cross Society, Bokaro.

The event, held a day before Independence Day, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 70 individuals who generously donated blood.

The camp was part of the festivities marking the 77th Foundation Day of the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) and Independence Day celebrations. The collaborative effort involved the Shaheed Tilka Manjhi Memorial Hospital, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), ITI Chandrapura, and the Indian Red Cross Blood Bank.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Senior General Manager and Project Head Manoj Kumar Thakur, along with his wife, Bhavya Thakur. Notable attendees included General Manager Avijit Ghosh, Assistant Managers Shrivatsa and Abhinandan Kumar, Public Representative Officer Akshay Kumar, and other dignitaries including three officers from the Estate and Deputy Manager Shekhawat Kumar. The event also saw active participation from 30 CISF jawans, 10 ITI students and teachers, and various members of the public.

Healthcare professionals such as Dr. AK Shrivastava, Dr. A Tigga, Dr. L Soran, Dr. S Hembram, Dr. Paramveer Kumar, Dr. Anupam Sinha, as well as Deputy Commandants NK Verma and K Yadav, were present to support and encourage donors. Dr. U. Mahanthy from the Indian Red Cross Blood Bank oversaw the camp, with management under the guidance of Dr. P.K. Ghosh, Deputy General Manager of Shaheed Tilka Manjhi Memorial Hospital, and Assistant Manager Shrivatsa.

Post-donation, participants were awarded certificates from DVC Hospital and received refreshments and T-shirts. The collected blood was tested and processed by the Indian Red Cross Blood Bank team.

Key contributors to the successful organization of the camp included Prafull Bhandari, Ashok Kumar, Premlata Kumari, Madhu Devi, Abhinandan, Sunita Kumari, Noor Bano, Ragini Neelam, Deepen Kumar Nayak, Deepak Kumar, Bablu Pramanik, Asraf Ansari, Biguram, Govind Pandey, Bodhi Mahato, Sukh Dev, Subrata Kumar, Atanu Kumar, and B.K. Mohapatra. Their combined efforts played a crucial role in the success of the blood donation drive.
