JMM Leader Lobin Hembrom Joins BJP Amid Controversy

Ranchi: In a notable political shift, a prominent Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Lobin Hembrom has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The announcement was made during a ceremony at the BJP state office in Ranchi, where Hembrom formally took party membership.

This development comes just few months after Hembrom’s expulsion from the JMM. The action was taken by the Speaker due to Hembrom’s decision to run as an independent candidate for the Rajmahal Lok Sabha seat, in defiance of the party’s directives.

The event saw the presence of several key BJP figures, including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP leaders Champai Soren, Sita Soren, State President Babulal Marandi, and Leader of the Opposition Amar Bauri.

Following his induction into the BJP, Hembrom expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, citing their leadership as a key reason for his decision to join the party. He also spoke fondly of Shibu Soren, referring to him as “Guruji” and noting that his teachings had significantly influenced his political journey.

Hembrom criticized the current state of the JMM, asserting that the party no longer embodies the strength and respect it once had under Soren’s leadership. He claimed that senior leaders are now being disrespected and lamented the party’s decline.

On issues affecting his constituency, Hembrom raised concerns about Bangladeshi infiltrators taking over lands in Santhal Pargana and accused the state of experiencing “Love Jihad,” which he believes is contributing to the region’s decline.

Hembrom praised the BJP for its respect towards tribal communities and vowed to champion the rights of tribals as part of his new affiliation. Consequently, the JMM has expelled Hembrom for six years, further intensifying the political dynamics in the state. Hembrom remains a prominent tribal leader in Jharkhand.
