New Delhi: Political parties are intensifying their campaigns as they approach the final phase of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and the single-phase voting in Haryana. Polling in Jammu and Kashmir is set for October 1, covering 40 Assembly constituencies.
Leaders from various parties are holding back-to-back rallies and roadshows to engage voters. Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a rally in Jammu, with heightened security measures in place for the event.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi will also be campaigning in the Union Territory today. Meanwhile, BJP National President and Union Minister JP Nadda held a rally in Kathua yesterday, where he praised the peaceful conduct of the Assembly elections. He noted that the electorate has chosen “ballots over bullets,” reflecting their commitment to peace and development. In a subsequent press conference, Nadda emphasized that the youth in Kashmir are rejecting terrorism and embracing the national mainstream.
In Haryana, polling for the 90 Assembly seats will occur on October 5, and the campaign has similarly escalated. Union Minister Amit Shah addressed three public meetings in Ambala, Kurukshetra, and Rewari yesterday, outlining the initiatives of the BJP government. He criticized previous Congress administrations, labeling them as corrupt and accusing them of deceiving farmers regarding minimum support prices (MSP).
Congress leader Kumari Selja also rallied in Kalanwali and Dabwali, condemning the BJP government for its treatment of farmers, laborers, and the unemployed. She accused the BJP of misusing agencies like the Enforcement Directorate for political gain.
Additionally, leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party and other regional parties are actively canvassing for their candidates as the election date approaches.
